ok so i know i just posted about this room last week but i finally caved and started hanging some of my paint by number collie collection. that is right folks. i finally started putting holes in the wall. i thought since i hung photos and put a rug down it was time for another office update.
it is not a secret that i am a collie dog freak. i had one growing up as a kid and when laddie passed i got max and when i moved out and married the dream killer i bought binks and then butters. joe doesn’t know it yet but some day we are going to breed collies. like i said he just doesn’t know it yet. i have been collecting collie paint by numbers for years now knowing someday i was going to have them all in a gallery wall. it’s awesome when they come in frames already but i have about 10 left without them. the thing i love about paint by numbers is you can find the same exact kit that someone did but their interpretation of it is different. the two sets pictured here i found on two separate occasions. i have two other copies of the large one in the middle but those do not have frames. funny story (kind of) i bought the two large frameless paint by number collies at an antique store in chicago last summer for $150 / pair. which is 10x what i normally spend on paint by numbers but i have never found ones that big.
the next week i went to a flea in norther michigan and i found the framed version. i thought it said $20 and was freaking out. and then the lady handed me $18 in change. i couldn’t believe it! all three are the same kit but they are all different colors and skill level. i think that is why i love them so much. some people are meticulous and follow the rules of the kit and others use their own interpretation.
the office is slowly coming together. i would like to replace the ceiling fan because this one doesn’t pop like i want it to. i’m thinking a black ceiling fan would really stand out. it would kind of follow the scheme going on in the entryway downstairs. i think it would also make the hide rug pop a bit. i found that rug at a warehouse i like to pick. it was pretttty gross when i found it folded up. i hung it outside in the sun and vacuumed it, sprayed it with half a bottle of febreze and disinfectant and then vacuumed it again. i love the contrast of it with the midcentury chairs and table. it softens it a bit.
now for this big table… i want to finally get my sewing machine set up on it so i can really start learning how to use it. at the old house i had it out once and tried to make an apron. it turned out ok except that….ummmm i didn’t read the pattern correctly and i ended up with an apron of upside down flamingos. it didn’t work out between us needless to say. however now that i have more actual space for it i’m excited to learn some basics and maybe someday take a class. the table has plenty of workspace on it for all my projects. it’s just keeping it clean that will be the tricky part.
also i finally got around to hanging my boho sheep painting from my friend holli (hollyhocks and hydrangeas). she made these boho animals earlier this summer and being a newbie sheep farmer i had to have the sheep one. i hung it over my “standing work station” with a few other pieces i have purchased over the years (sign is from rebel reclaimed) (antlers are from a flea market). it just makes me happy to look at them. over time the room will fill in and feel homey and the echo of the empty room will fade as i pack it more and more with crap i hoard. until then though… this is what it is and i’m happy with it.
happy wednesday everyone!0
