each year i treat myself to a little (or a lot) of pretty. Since i no longer get a first day of school outfit i think it is only fair that i get a birthday outfit. (not to be confused with a birthday suit). last year i went a little tulle skirt crazy with a fur vest. when i saw this skirt at anthropologie this year… i knew that was it. that was the birthday skirt i needed for my special day.
the line between chic and over the top is very fine and almost invisible. you won’t know that you crossed over it until you get in public. if that makes sense lol. by then you are too far gone and you might as well just keep rocking it. i knew i wanted to wear it all day and we had places to go and people to see. we went out for a lovely brunch at husk in nashville then off to a few shops then to walk the grounds and tour the mansion of andrew jackson. i needed this skirt to take me from brunch to walking around a park.
i found this top at anthropologie that is a terry cloth sweatshirt material with an embroidered and beaded peacock on it. i thought the sweatshirt material was a nice contrast for the over the top shimmery skirt. paired with some ankle booties from MTNG it was the perfect multi purpose outfit for the day.
we had a lovely brunch at husk in nashville. since it was my birthday weekend i really didn’t think i needed to decide on just one thing. we split the bourbon glazed donuts and pimento cheese with crackers. i had the southern eggs Benedict and joe had a chicken fried steak n eggs. we didn’t need to eat again until like 7pm. we went to walk around all afternoon at the andrew jackson hermitage and it was a welcomed relief to siting all day.
i have a few other ways i want to pair this skirt up. i think what i loved about it the most was it was so comfortable and it did not have one single wrinkle in it from traveling and walking around all day. and ps. you are never too old for a little sparkle.0
