as work continues on our house i find that finishing up little projects here and there before we start tackling an entire room. i was on my way to chicago with a friend two years ago and we randomly stopped at this antique store in michigan city. there is a guy there that has a booth of just vintage posters and advertisements. i saw this bette midler poster and knew i had to have it. i mean come on. beaches, first wives club, hocus pocus. i fricken love this woman and the eccentric characters she plays. plus it was orange and black and hello! cocktail lounge is orange and black!
as i was browsing through the pictures to make sure there was nothing else that i wanted the man who owned the booth came up and started talking to me about his pictures. then kept trying to sell me on other things that were not even close to the poster in my hand. then……. he grabbed my hand and said …. you can have 20% off. i took my poster and ran. it’s like i got hand trapped and couldn’t get away. i’m not a touchy feely person and i could think of nothing than running away but i really really wanted that poster. you know how that goes. sacrifice. i bought my poster then doused my hands in sanitizer and made it to chicago. coincidentally it was the same weekend i bought those two large paint by number collie pictures i wrote about yesterday.
anyways i bought just a small brass poster frame but it needed more of a statement on that wall. i found this old frame at the kalamazoo kitty flea and it fit perfectly around the brass frame. it’s kind of weird but i kind of dig it. i think it takes up more wall space and creates more attention around the poster. i want to add some more small pieces around it but for now this works!
