the holiday weekend is upon us and i’ve been so excited to show you my christmas living room! i love the green walls and plaid carpet year round but this room just begs to be decked out for christmas. i’m so excited for christmas this weekend. all my gifts are 80% wrapped (hehe) and my food is almost made but all those loose ends will be tied up by the end of today and i’m excited to kick off the weekend.
tonight we are heading to my grandpas house to celebrate Christmas with him and my cousins then christmas eve i’m heading into the shop for a bit in the morning to help people get those last minute gifts. in the afternoon i’m heading to church with my side of the family and then celebrating Christmas at my parents house. Sunday morning…Christmas! joe and i usually have coffee together with the dogs and then exchange gifts to each other and then relax. around noon we head into joe’s side of the family to celebrate christmas with them. and that is pretty much the plans for the weekend!
ok so you know i’ve been struggling with the placement of furniture but for the time being i just kept it how it was for the holidays. i found these really cool pine tree seed sack pillows from a local antique store. how perfect for the winter time! i love how the can handle how high the back of my chairs are.
these paintings…… i told you i have a lot of art from my friend holli. she painted my two roosters for me. above is sampson and below is peaches. peaches is the one that has narrowly escaped death many a times from the hands of yours truly. i needed something to make a statement between the windows and i’m pretty confident these do the trick. i wish i could show you all in person how absolutely beautiful these paintings are. i don’t know how she does it but seriously she somehow made sampsons tail iridescent like it is in real life.
these little deer on the mantle was joe’s first ever buck he shot. his name is spike lee. it took joe 7 years of hunting to get a buck and i think he’s cute. it’s only fitting that he gets the mantle. you can see he is joined by his friends of plastic bucks on the mantle. this is not even all of them. i still have some in storage and some in my dining room (see here) . the stockings were made by my friend sue at fabric scout. (you can buy these at the store!) they are made from old feed sacks we found in an old barn. sue also made my pennant pillows on the couch. she does great work and i love having her pieces in my home.
joe insisted on having a TV in this room. since he let my put in plaid carpet i thought it was only fair to let him have it. his argument was that you “cannot have the most comfiest couches in a room with no tv”. ok ok ok. i gave in. but that didn’t mean i wasn’t going to decorate it for christmas!
i really wanted to get a super big and tall tree for this room but they are so expensive! i found these two 6 foot ones at target black friday sales. i loaded them with my vintage elves, shiny brights and added a bit of a twist with some old fair ribbons. the colors went perfectly with my shiny brights and i thought it was just something different.
i can’t wait to snuggle up in here and celebrate christmas together. the room is so cozy when the snow is falling and the icicles are dripping. and yes… the couches are the perfect spot to snuggle up and watch home alone on a Christmas Sunday.0
