this is another one of my few holiday decorations i decided to put up this year but i figure it’s more winter than holiday. at least it better be because pottery barn and west elm now own a piece of me considering how much i spent this year on buffalo check.
i guess you could say i got caught up in the plaid game this year because for some reason i thought that my bedding also needed to coordinate with my dinnerware right? right. hey, i’m a grown woman, i don’t need to defend my dinnerware purchases. so what if this is set up for a fictional dinner party. it gives me a reason now to invite people over for… dinner. or brunch. i’ve had a craving for lemon curd again lately. getting off track. ok back on track.
i feel like i keep paying attention to this room because it’s the only room in the house that is like 99% complete ( have to paint the switch plate covers and radiator vent) but i absolutely love this room. it’s dark and cozy and warm and i do my favorite thing in it. eat.
i searched way too high low and long for a centerpiece for the table. i really wanted some small trees but couldn’t find exactly what i was looking for so i went with a simple garland. i found this garland at jo-ann fabrics on sale for $7 a strand (i have two pictured here) and i have an additional one on my mantle in the bedroom. it’s just light and festive and i think it has a touch of vintage to it. i love how the green pops against the glittery table runner.
i found these amazing fishs eddy plates (the ones that say yummy and eat up) at west elm in grand rapids. I also bought the pink versions too. ( so sue me) (told you west elm and pottery barn own me). i thought the gold outline was perfection with the buffalo check and the gold flatware. it just looks woodsman festive to me.
the flatware i found on sale at target! can you believe it? i’ve seen gold/brass silverware sets for around $30-$50 you are going to freak when i tell you how much i paid for a 5 piece set…..$13! they were on sale for $13 a set! yep bought 4. well 5 in case joe accidentally puts one in the dishwasher. the placemats, buffalo check plates, and the red toile looking dinner plates and mugs are from pottery barn. the napkins are from target, the antler napkin rings also from pottery barn. Oh! and the glasses with the gold rim are from west elm and were a steal as well. watch for them to have glassware specials i believe they came to $6 each.
last but not least the table runner was from crate and barrel two years ago but it is something they get back in stock every year around the holiday season. target also had a very similar version and it was around $15. it’s so festive with the silver and gold sparkles running through it and really makes the gold silverware pop!
what do you think?0
