hello! i’m settling back in to my normal routine and getting my home to do list checked off and slowly getting over jet lag. (was still up at 4:30am this morning) but i’ve been pumping my bloodstream full of coffee and i’m loving life.
being away for two weeks brought on a feeling that i haven’t had… ever. homesickness.
seriously. i can honestly say that i have truly never been homesick. i have been ready to go home or ready to sleep in my own bed. but this is the first time that i have been away and i have truly wanted to go home because i missed it.
now, don’t get me wrong europe was amazing. i would totally do it all over again if i could but there is just something about home now that i love love love and didn’t want to miss out on.
loved europe. happy to be home.
i pumped you with euro travels for two weeks that i feel like i should give you an update on what is happening on the home front.
let’s start with….. junking?
i managed to get home just in time to head to the allegan flea market on sunday. i’m going to do a separate post on my finds but i found some awesome stuff while out and about this weekend (and right before i left). speaking of flea markets… i am helping a group of amazing women from painted farmgirl plan for one in september. we are going to be hosting it at the hudsonville fair grounds on saturday, september 26. if you are a vendor of vintage/flea/salvage be sure to apply to be a vendor! shoot me an email for more details! we would love to have you!
garden. my garden is coming along amazingly. is that a word? i seriously worked about 12 hours the day before we left on it to get everything in the ground. the june temp and rain has done wonders on garden beds i built. a little tougher in the clay but my pumpkins and squash are sprouting right up from clay (mixed in some peat and topsoil) and things are growing well! I have a few baby eggplants coming in, some tomatoes started, a few peas and lettuce and herbs ready to eat!
food. ah yes the food. have you noticed a lack there of on my instagram feed? i feel like i spent the majority of my time bracing to be gone for 2 weeks that i didn’t cook. well i didn’t feel like i didn’t cook for like the month leading up to this trip. on sunday night we made our first home cooked meal in a long time with a nice big chicken that we raised and fresh cut lettuce from the garden. i’m so excited for a little slow down the rest of the summer to get back to cooking fresh and healthy meals.
and last but certainly not least… my newest family member landon. my nephew landon is a few weeks old now and is just a little peanut. seriously i have had burritos that were bigger than he is. he put on an entire pound while i was gone which if you compare that to his overall bodyweight he gained more than i did while i was gone :). he came to visit the office yesterday and we all went out for his first family visit to russ’. he looks so much like my grandpa hop but with my sister in law stephanies eyes. every now and then though he makes a face or has an expression that looks just like my younger brother loren (lando’s dad). it has been so amazing seeing my baby brother be a dad. it blows my mind to think that they met in highschool and now are a little family of three. everyone take a minute and look at how cute my newest nephew is.
so that is a pretty general update. things are going good here in the mitten state. i can’t wait to start writing again about the topics i love the most! fashion, food, farm and fleas!
happy tuesday friends.
