when our doctor said it was ok to travel with otto we were off! no joke last month we were in charleston south carolina for work/play but this last trip was all vacation and it was lovely. we went on a ten day road trip south and had ourselves quite an adventure.
we left friday morning and by the late afternoon were driving down the back roads of kentucky and tennesee to get to the country living fair. we shopped, listened to awesome music and ate way too many fried green tomatoes. the weather could not have been more perfect and we just hung out and stretched our legs for a few hours. after that we stopped at a grocery store and picked up some wine and snacks and headed to our rental house for the night. it was one of the most relaxing, beautiful homes in the country that i could have ever imagined. we got settled. and poured ourselves a glass of wine by the fire and just hung out and talked while otto played with his toes. it was the most relaxing night of the entire trip. we were so relaxed every single one of us slept in and woke up to the birds and cows of the country. we had coffee, bathed otto, sat on the porch and ate yogurt and just soaked it all in before heading out for alabama.
we arrived in alabama around 6pm and grilled out with my parents at their condo. we unpacked, showered again (truck stops) and went to bed a little early. we spent the next four days exploring the towns around orange beach, eating seafood, fishing, reading and taking beach walks. it was a great relaxing week with my parents. after spending 4 days in orange beach we packed up again and headed back to nashville to another rental house and met up with my siblings and their kiddos and watched my sister run the marathon and my mom run the half marathon. you could not have asked for better weather. it was sunny,75 and absolutely perfect. while i was there too i also managed to convince joe and otto to go to the nashville flea… it was a blast. needless to say otto rode home on a pile of vintage rugs. but the kid is used to it by now.
after the race everyone crashed but joe and i so we went out and did a little shopping before grabbing some hattie b’s chicken and heading a back to the house. we hung out and got all the kids ready for bed and put them to sleep. my parents offered to watch them at night and before they could change their mind the 6 of us were in an uber to downtown. we hung out at roberts western world and the stage laughing and just having a good time.
the next morning we were on the road back home and got back around…7pm at night. it was an amazing trip filled with amazing family memories that i will treasure forever.1
