this was a busy busy weekend! thank time change for making it that much shorter.
boo. i love the daylight but i do hate losing one hour. it feels like time went by so fast. my favorite day of the weekend is sunday and i hate that it was an hour shorter.
friday night my mom and a few co workers and i set up for the J & H awards banquet for saturday night so we didn’t have to go super early on saturday. after we got done setting up we went to earth fare in kalamazoo and stocked up on some healthy groceries for the week then we headed to salt of the earth and met up with joe and my dad.
saturday morning we did some things around the house then went in to the holland farmers market. i was so sad that the bean guy wasn’t there! but i did get a bit of cheese, honey and some more root veggies. then we went to get joe some new dress shirts because he’s had the same ones for like 3 years. after that we hit up new holland brewery for lunch. i had one of my fav salads there (the black and blue) and then we headed back to the house to get ready for the award banquet.
when we got back to the house we noticed that the menfolk were at the sugar shack. they informed us that tree tapping would begin on sunday! i can’t wait to watch them make syrup on our property. i can’t wait to see it almost as much as i can’t wait to eat it!
we got downtown around 4pm to finish setting up and to welcome the guests. we had a great time at the western mi university conference center downtown and had a nice dinner and a good time with co workers.
sunday morning we woke up at who knows what time because of the time change and relaxed a bit in the morning then headed out to try a new church. after church we met up with my friend lisa and had brunch at terra gr. i had a delicious pork belly hash. it would have been really really healthy if it weren’t for the pork belly. it had roasted carrots and brussel sprouts with a nice maple glaze, pork belly and two sunny side up eggs. nom nom nom. after that we went to see the new home of hunt and gather in grand rapids. if you haven’t checked that store out then you NEED to get to their new space. it’s in a ware house that husband and wife team kelley and troy renovated themselves. it’s insanely beautiful and open. a must see.
once we were done drooling at the displays of amazing vintage furniture we headed home. joe cleaned out the chicken coop and i baked some pies for work.
we watched tv and tried to get to bed on time… damn time change. happy monday!0
