A while ago now we went on our first family road trip to charleston, south carolina. it was one of the best vacations of our life. it was relaxing, intimate and quiet. everyone was so friendly and the architecture and landscaping were absolutely breath taking. not to mention the shopping was amazing. (read more about that here)
i wanted to share a bit more with you about some of our favorite spots. my amazing talented friend kim created this beautiful map to help navigate the city!
Food:
we ate at some amazing places with some great low country options. one of my favorites was brunch at S.N.O.B, Open Kitchen and of course Callies Hot Little Biscuit of which I went to every morning. Every place listed on this map was kid friendly (we took otto to all of them). the daily special at Callies was always a sure thing. We also were frequent visitors of the coffee shop Rise which was in the restoration hotel. seriously the thyme latte was out of this world.
Sites:
we did two plantation tours and both i would highly highly recommend. The middleton place was fascinating and we spent the entire day walking around the azalea gardens just talking in the perfect architecture and design and enjoying the day. the restaurant on the grounds was also very very good! i went to the magnolia plantation with otto while joe was in meetings. i liked the mapped out garden pathways of the magnolia plantation and the home was just incredible.
Shopping:
King street was amazing. i usually find one or two things out on vacation while shopping but man oh man… it was good here. you can read more about my favorites here. but you could spend a day or two wandering around here.
it was the perfect vacation to take a baby on. everything is stroller friendly and almost everything is able to be seen from outside. one day otto and i walked around for 6 hours just looking at all the gardens and historic homes.
let me know if there was anything i missed!
