I can’t let a good coupon go to waste. Even though I would hardly call 15% off a “good coupon” but Sephora rarely has sales and i’ll take what I can get. This year I’ve been really trying to focus in on skin care. I was using whatever product I thought had pretty packaging and just “dealt” with the monthly hormonal cystic acne that visited me each month. That was not working and it took getting a free sample in the mail to get me hooked. I thought since the sale is live today with promo code SUMMERSAVE (You have to be a VIB) I would list what my favorite new beauty products are.
Skin Care
Like I said before I was using whatever looked nice and didn’t pay much attention to what type of skin it was actually meant for. I received a sample kit from Murad in the mail and my skin looked SO much better after a week I started off by using the Murad Prebiotic 4 in 1 Multi Cleanser in the morning and evening, the Murad Replenishing Multi Acid Peel in the evening after cleansing and the Murad Prebiotic 3 in 1 Multi Mist in the morning and evening after the previous steps. I’m still not sure about the mist, the jury is still out. But I am LOVING the cleanser and the acid peel. Honestly I can say i’ve been using it 3 months now and have yet to get a single zit. I hope I didn’t just jinx myself. In the last month I have also started using the Murad Retinol Youth Renewal Cream at night as well as the Murad Oil and Pore Control Mattifier with SPF 45 under my morning make up. These products are a bit pricey but you do not need that much to be effective. I have been using the first 3 products for over 3 months and they are still about half full. Plus if you find they do not work you can return them.
Lip Color
I wear one brand of lip color but I try out all the different “types” from mattes to stains. I have been obsessed with the new NARS Powermatte Lip Pigment stains. I’m not even kidding you, these colors stay on all day once applied and dried. Towards the end of the day (like a few hours after lunch) I’ll use a clear chapstick and that spreads the last of the color around. The colors I’m currently rotating are Get Up Stand Up, Light My Fire, Walk this Way and Don’t Stop. I am adding the Warm Leatherette to my shopping cart for the sale.
My #1 Lipstick though is the semi – matte lip stick from Nars called Heat Wave it is the PERFECT orange red and I’ve been wearing it for over 10 years. I like to pair it with exhibit A blush. don’t let the bright red scare you, use it lightly and it makes the lips pop!
The other color of semi – matte lip stick I love is schiap. It’s the hot pink shade you’ll see me working in to my rotation. I also just added Fire Down Below
I am a lip stick junkie but these are by far my tried and true favorites.
Fragrance
I can’t wear the same fragrance every day so I like to switch it up. I have a handful of favorite in my rotation that have slowly been re bought time and time again. I am obsessed with the Jo Malone Wood Sage and Sea Salt Fragrance that I got from Joe for Christmas. It has a manly beach scent to it and I like that it lasts all day. Along with the beach scent Beach Walk by Replica has been a long time favorite but I also have Lipstick On, on my wish list. I did receive a sample of Viktor&Rolf Magic Salty Flower in the mail and I am going to splurge on that with my coupon. I also just noticed that the Replica sample set is back in stock!
Other Products I love
I have been wearing a powder foundation for the past few years from brand called youngblood. I use the color Natural and I get it from amazon because it’s half the price of other places. One container of it lasts about 5 months. I love the coverage and use a mist to “set” the foundation once I’m done. I have not found a setting mist i’m crazy about yet but for now I’m using the Urban Decay brand.
When Ashley and I went to Chicago back in February we went to the Nars counter and fell in love with this cheek palatte. I like how the different shades coordinate with my lipsticks. Ashley and I have completely different skin tons and the palatte works amazing for both of us.
I am constantly rotating hair products finding the best fit for me but I picked up this Kerastase growth serum to help with my baby hairs that are coming back from having otto. The price is scary but I use it every evening on my hair line and I have been extremely impressed with the results. One bottle lasted me about 8 months.
Well I think that is enough damage for one day. What am I missing? What are you stocking up on at the Sephora sale?
Abby- you are just a delight! Long time follower, but first time I have commented. Also fellow Hope grad, but many moons older. My absolute fave solution for cystic acne is Sunday Riley Good Genes, but it is ridiculously expensive. Good time to get the small one on sale. Also just diving into lipstick (you’re an inspiration). I love bite beauty outburst longwear lip stain. Only three colors, but the coral is a lovely orange red that lasts past a greasy lunch (not that I ever eat frites from Hotel Mertens). Love your content, keep doing exactly what you’re doing.
