I would never consider myself a “snake skin boots girl” but when I saw these python print boots on the cover of the October Anthropologie catalog I had to have them. I told myself, I will make these work. I think my issue with snake skin was always that it seemed very masculine to me. As I was trying on these boots at home finding the perfect outfit to wear with them I had some ideas on what could make them more feminine. PS. The first time I wear something I ALWAYS have to make sure it’s with the perfect match. Like I said before, I don’t want to waste a good outfit on an insignificant day.

Boots: Dolce Vita (size up .5 size)
Bag: Louis Vuitton On the Go Tote
Cape: Atlantic Pacific for Nordstrom
Turtleneck: J.Crew
I found that using overly feminine colors like gold and pink really toned down the edginess of the boots. Normally with this outfit I would have worn a glittery heel or ankle boot but I love how the blush pink in the skirt softens the tones of the python pattern.
I also used texture to mesh with the prints. I wore a gold sparkly turtleneck from j.crew and my skirt also had a metallic shimmer to it.
Pattern mixing was my last addition to the ensemble. I paired my new Atlantic Pacific cape with the python print and my new purse. The plaid on the cape is a large square pattern which paired nicely with the delicate nature of the boot.
This bag… let me tell you. I had been traveling nonstop and I was in downtown chicago for my second to last trip of the year. I had been in meetings all day and I just wanted to browse. That is when I saw this bag sitting in the case. I didn’t even know how popular of a bag it was I just absolutely loved the mix matched pattern. It was so unique! The lady working the store told me it was crazy they even got one in and that if I left without it, it wouldn’t be here when I got back. I figured either she’s right or she knows I’m a sucker for this kind of sales pitch either way I left with the bag. And she was right, this bag is sold out on line everywhere! It’s worth it though. It is the perfect size for my work gear and is like a briefcase but girly. I’m obsessed.
Have you tried the new python print trend? I feel like these boots are my first toe dip in the water (pun intended) and I have my eye on some other larger print pieces. How do you make this trend work for you?
A side note about these boots: they run about a half size small. I’m typically a 9 and I sized up to a 9.5.
Love your style 🙂 Let’s jump to the bag! I got the same one. I was told the same story, thought about it for a few hours and it sold! I searched high and low for it and a favorite LV associate found one for me. It’s fabulous!!!
I agree! Did you see the other patterns it comes in? The LEOPARD!?!?
