country living fair weekend adventure

House & Home

September 17, 2018

i have literally been here there and everywhere this weekend. my mom and left thursday night for columbus, ohio and went to the country living fair friday morning, left friday afternoon for their cottage in muskegon then joe and i headed to pentwater for the night and then back to new era sunday for my nephews birthday party and finally home sweet home sunday evening. so yes. we were here there and everywhere.

my mom and i decided a few weeks ago that we wanted to road trip to the country living fair. my parents are in the process of building a house and my mom wanted to get some decor inspiration and me? i’m always down for a good market no matter how far away it is.

we drove about 6 hours and reached columbus by 9pm (had a few starbucks stops on our way). we stayed at a wonderful air bnb and unfortunately we were only there for a brief sleep because we were up and at em bright and early friday morning. we went to breakfast at blunch where i had an amazing fontina and roasted brussel sprout toast. guys…. it was awesome. with caffeine in our blood and full bellies we headed to the show.

it. was. stunning. i was overwhelmed with all of the beautiful displays and pieces. i bought everything from ironstone to handmade jewelry. my mom and i did some major damage at farmhouse frocks and i took home a chesterfield sofa. yea. you heard me. we shopped the show for 5 hours before loading the car and heading out.

it was so wonderful to see old friends and meet new friends. i love that you can meet people from social media anywhere and you feel like you already know each other! it was so fun to put faces with the usernames. i love meeting people who read my words out in the wild. it means so much to me. thank you so so much for all of your kind words and encouragement.

we left the show and stopped at a great salvage store right by the show and then to this huge book store in germantown. before we left columbus we stopped at brown bag deli for some sandwiches for the road and then to fox in the snow for some treats and coffee for the car. if you make it there ever you must get the brioche cobblestone bread and a salted caramel chocolate chip cookie.

i can’t wait to show you all what i found but here is a short list. 3 pieces of iron stone, a chesterfield sofa, two childrens books, a necklace and bracelet, a floral oil painting, four metal urn thingies, a panoramic photo, overalls and a dress from farmhouse frocks and a cool old envelope tin… i think that is it? a pretty good haul! more to come later but if you ever get a chance to venture that way it is definitely worth the drive!
