I swear I didn’t intentionally dress Otto and I in coordinating get ups but here we are, mother in son both in coordinating fall outfits. Joe was a good sport about busting out the camera on our fall fest morning. I have been waiting to wear this pumpkin T-shirt that I picked up from a local boutique called The Counting House. It has all the different varieties of heirloom pumpkins on it. I paired it with my new favorite madewell pants and j.crew collarless blazer (that is now on mega sale). Otto is in his new fox apparel from Hannah Anderson. The entire site right now is 40%! I found that their kid sizing is very true to size. I ordered otto an 18-24 month but I should have bought the 2T.
I’ve intentionally kept our weekends in October free from travel and activities so we can enjoy some time to just “be” and not only get caught up at home but enjoy it. We spent Saturday morning heading to the farmers market and wandering around Joe and I’s former college campus. I think Otto was grateful to just run around.
My little sister and brother in law got married at the chapel here this fall and Otto insisted on waiting outside for them to come out. He has a memory that blows my mind because that event happened back in August. We ran around and played for a bit before grabbing coffee and a muffin and heading to tackle some errands.
We had full intentions of going apple and pumpkin picking Saturday but opted to save that for Sunday and just enjoy a Saturday of doing nothing. I stopped in to The Found Cottage for a few hours to merchandise some clothing but that was about the extent of it all.
So many times I feel like i’m just completing one task to get to the next and waking up and going back to sleep and when I get in these hamster wheel type funks I get a bit depressed. I know myself enough to recognize when this is happening and try to combat it with clearing the deck and being intentional with my time. This weekend was what I needed.
A change in seasons always affects me deeply because I think of everything I wanted to do as well as everything I did. The looming winter has me anxious but also I’m ready for the rest that winter brings (after the holidays of course). We have so many exciting things coming up that I can’t wait to share with you but one day at a time.
This week I’m going to focus on the joy in each task I have scheduled through the days. We have work meetings, birthday parties, home renovations getting kicked off and a girls night out planned (well at least I have that planned) It’s going to be a beautiful fall week and I’m looking forward to soaking it all in one moment at a time.
PS. See how else I paired these high waisted pleated pants. For size reference I am 5’4 and 175lbs. I took a size 12. I felt the 10 that I normally wear in madewell was too tight in the lower waist. In the pumpkin T shirt I am wearing a size Large.
