Floral Wreath DIY for Spring A Step by Step Instruction

I finally took down the outdoor Christmas decorations this past weekend (I know it’s March ok?) but it’s been so cold and this past weekend was one of the first nice sunny days we’ve had in a while so down it came. However, everything just looked bare and the house needed something to announce the arrival of spring. I thought a new floral wreath for the front door would be nice. I have been lusting after so many of the preserved flower ones on terrain but I didn’t want to purchase anything because I don’t know the start date for the house remodel. The market for both houses, labor and lumber right now is insane so things are so up in the air. Regardless when we are ready to get started, I don’t want to have to pack up anything more than what I have to.

I bought these roses from Costco two weeks ago now, $18 for two dozen! I couldn’t believe how long they lasted but now they are withering away and I was about to toss them when I thought to myself.. duh these roses are dried out and dead..I’m going to use them to make a wreath. Off to the craft store I went.

For this wreath diy project I used three things:

1. A wreath frame like this one.
2. Dead umm “preserved” flowers, roses and babies breath
3. Hot glue and the Hot glue gun. 

It’s a simple floral wreath that cost me under $15 to make, just how I like it.

How to make the simple floral wreath

1. Lay all of your supplies out so they’re easy to reach once you get going.
2. Figure out how you want your wreath to hang. Do you want the flowers to go all the way around? Do you want them to burst out from the side? Based on what I had available, I liked the natural look of the frame so I thought I would just embellish a small corner of the wreath with my dried blooms.
3. Cut your stems about 3-4 inches from the bloom. Tack a bit of hot glue onto the stem and weave it into the sticks of the wreath. Start with the filler (babies breath or greenery)
4. Work your way around holding up the wreath and giving it a gentle shake as you go to make sure that things are sticking where they should.
5. When you are satisfied with your work hold it up and give it a good shake to make sure things are properly glued in.
6. Hang it up and admire your handiwork!

Other fun ideas to add to your wreath

I wanted to keep my costs down so I didn’t purchase anything other than the frame but wandering around the craft store I thought reindeer moss would be fun to weave in or some eucalyptus. I think you could easily achieve this look with faux flowers and if you do not have flowers dried ready to go you could purchase preserved flowers on etsy.
