You are going to have to go with me on a pleated pants journey for a moment. Way back when Midnight in Paris came out (the woody allen film not the paris hilton porno) Nina Arianda who plays carol wore these amazing high waisted brown pleated pants when they toured Versailles in the movie. And ever since 2011 I’ve kept that outfit in the back of my mind. (Some people watch movies for the plot I want to see what they’re wearing)

The pants just looked so sophisticated and accented her waist and hips in all the right places and I have been on the lookout ever since. I was in Atalanta for work and there was a Madewell by the restaurant we went to for dinner so I bopped in to see what was new. There was a fall sale going on after all.
I stopped in and saw these pants and gave them a whirl. Madewell, you have been hitting it out of the park for me in terms of pants that fit. I am typically a 10/30 at Madewell but I felt these ran really small in the waist. I sized up to a 12 so they would fit looser around the middle. They also came in plaid (bought) and denim (thinking about). It’s hard for me to justify buying them in denim since we can only wear it to work on Fridays. It sure was cute though. I felt that all three fabrics fit true to the same size and I stuck with a 12.
They are perfect to wear with a flat or heel but once the temperatures cool off i’m going to mix in some ankle boots with them. I am loving all of the tailored looks for fall this year. I have a short frame so i’m glad there are more fitted options.
