This weekend one of my favorite antique stores, Garden House Vintage Market was having their weekend sale and of course you know I can’t resist an antique sale. I’m so grateful that we are able to shop (safely) and browse antique malls again. It reminds me of when Otto was a newborn and antique stores always felt safe for me to shop at with him since I could keep apart from people and browse. I went with maybe one thing I was on the hunt for (and didn’t find) and left with a bunch of treasure that wasn’t on my list but isn’t that how antiquing goes?
Garden House is located right off the highway in between allegan and kalamazoo. It’s owned by my friend Cindy and her husband Kevin. It is full of primitives, midcentury farmhouse beautiful antiques. If i’m looking for a special piece I always check out Garden House. This time around I found a bunch of treasure for the cottage.
This weekend I found
- vintage crawdad diagram (pictured below)
- two folding red camping stools
- two copper colanders for food prop photography
- two blue sailboat framed canvases
- brass sailboat
- paint by number
What was that one thing I was on the hunt for? A friggin ceramic captain smoking a pipe. So far I have three in my collection and ever since I decided I need two more to make it a cluster of five I haven’t been able to find a single one! Collecting is rough but when I find one, it will make the hunt that much more rewarding.
I also found my friend Ashley and her husband Doug who found some treasures too. Shopping is always better with friends. Ashley found this amazing medium size trophy that had a tiny little sailboat on it. It was amazing. She also found a few pieces of Jadeite.
If you are in the West Michigan area definitely make Garden House a stop on your list. If it’s your first time visiting, plan on about 1 – 2 hours of shopping time.
