House & Home

June 16, 2016

last weekend we went to spend our anniversary weekend in pentwater with all these plans to go to traverse city and what not. however we ended up staying around town and hanging out with friends and actually getting a little work done around the cottage. we only have a few more pieces of panel to hang! we have the track for the bedroom barn door but couldn’t hang the hardware until we painted the wall. and once you have a gallon open you just keep going !

we put the first coat on about half of the house. we used dove white by benjamin more and it went on so smoothly! we bought the rough textured material so we really didn’t have to worry about lines, smudges etc. it kind of hid everything! i actually kind of like the pine ceiling but it has to be white. and plus we already got white paint smudges on it so there is that. white it shall be.

once we get all the walls painted we are going to lay some floor and then install the trim! i’m thinking a light pine looking laminate for the floors to keep things light. the bedroom has old wood floors but they are in rough shape and someone painted a “rug” on them so i bought a soft gray to cover it with.  we are also going to hang a wood paneled ceiling in the bedroom. I love the exposed beams but we need the insulation and the beams are just covered in nails. plus you can kind of see into the attic through the wood planks.

pardon the mess! it’s a work in progress 🙂

so what do you think of the white? i know i’m usually a color person but i wanted a blank slate because the house is so small and i plan on making this thing super camp lodge-y. stay tuned!
