i love chicago. i friggin love it. there are seriously so many fun things to do see shop and eat. i love it.
i headed out with my friend lisa after work on friday and we stopped at the michigan city antique mall midway. i picked up a piece of pyrex, a vintage concert poster and some christmas items. (i’ll do a whole post on what i bought later).
we arrived to downtown around 7:30 chicago time to our hotel and headed straight out to this amazing place called eatalys. we were there for at least 3 hours (again i will do an entire post on where we went) we had a delicious pasta dinner and walked around this two story department store of italian food. it was amazing!
saturday we woke up at 6:00 (always a bonus when you can travel with someone on the same sleep schedule as you) and headed out to little goat diner for breakfast. i know i know i always go to the same spots but i am seriously obsessed with this place and was such a bonus to be able to go there twice in one week. this go round i got the breakfast biscuit n gravy, a scrambled egg and the best breakfast sausage i have ever had in my entire life. this biscuit let me tell you is magical. it was like fried on the outside it was so crispy and a warm hot soft center with this sweet sausage and mushroom crazy gravy. it was absolutely heavenly.
full from breakfast we walked to the soho house to check out the interior (too full for another round of breakfast) but thanks to my friend shelley for showing me the place! i am obsessed with the velvet furniture and industrial interior. i grabbed a drink and a slice of cake there on thursday. i just wanted to be snoopy again. after that we decided to walk back towards our hotel until we felt tired. we walked the entire 2 miles back. it was such a nice morning and the city was still quiet. it was nice to take in some sights all by ourselves.
we grabbed the car and headed to andersonville (again separate post) to do some shopping. we grabbed coffee and then walked about another 2 miles checking out new vintage and home shops. some of the most inspiring shops and displays i’ve been to in a while. i found some awesome stuff for the home and pentwater. my favorite is either the huge collie paint by numbers or the vintage boy scout cabin sign. toss up.
we grabbed a late lunch and some drinks then headed to west elm, jayson home (where we saw jennifer hudson!)
this is how that went down. lisa and i shopping. i’m way too into the furniture to notice what is going on. jennifer and her entourage are looking at some pieces in a narrow row and lisa and i are like oh excuse us… walk right by them. talk to a few people from entourage about a funny $4000 wall wrench decor then realize it’s jennifer hudson. haha . the store (again ) was amazing.
after a bit more shopping we head back to the hotel to put our feet up for a bit and meet lisas friend shi for dinner. we again go back to eataly because i just couldn’t handle it. we had an amazing cheese platter and wine then all split a black truffle cream pizza. it was amazing.
we headed back to the hotel for the night. sunday i woke up and caught the megabus home. (btw was super easy to find. quick three hour morning ride and i was home) lisa stayed behind to meet up with some more friends.
sunday night i watched christmas movies, assembled my dining room chairs and put up our christmas tree. oh and made these amazing lamb meatball sandwiches for dinner.
all in all a great weekend!0
