greetings from dallas! after my second day here i can say i’m still undecided about how i feel about dallas. i feel though, my opinion is skewed because i have been inside a hotel at a conference from 8am – 6pm leaving not much time for exploring. (with the exception of food).
let me just say, i would fly here for a few days just to eat. it has been absolutely incredible. like the most delicious mix of tacos and comfort food i have ever had. ever. i am grateful to be traveling with a coworker who is as addicted to the food network and exploration as i am.
so far we have gone to:
velvet taco: (coming soon to Chicago!) i had the #7 cuban pig taco, #2 rotisserie chicken and the #3 crisp tikka chicken (that one was my favorite). these AMAZING potatoes with crema lemon and garlic and the rotisserie cream corn. omg.
belmont bar: had an absolutely mind blowing margarita. the woodshed margarita. cedar wood infused tequila, cointreau orange liqueur, lime juice and agave. the cedar wood infused tequila had just a tiny hint of smoke. it was fantastic. not overly sweet.
smoke: i had the coffee cured beef brisket. this was amazing. i loved the slight crust on the outside…however i still love my dads smoked brisket better.
sissys: the best fricken fried chicken i have ever had in my entire life. it has this thick cracker like crust on the outside and moist dark meat on the inside. you would smoosh it around in the whipped potatoes and brown peppery gravy and it was absolute heaven. we had brussel sprouts and mac and cheese for sides. oh and started out with the pimento cheese and these little bun puff balls that were incredible.
today we have small group meetings all day and then we are either going to check out
What do you think looks the best?
