the perfect poncho

ok so believe it or not.. i’m a bargain shopper. i know is it a bargain if you buy a lot of bargains? i dunno. but it’s really really really hard for me to pay full price for stuff. so when i do the item has to be extremely special. i think it’s because i shop so much that i know sooner or later it will go on sale and it will have a coupon code so it’s worth it to wait. however…when i laid eyes on this poncho.. it was love at first site. i had to have it. it was so soft and vintage looking…. i could see myself heading out to do errands looking JUST like blake lively. (let me remind you this is in my head mmk?) i started the high stakes negotiations with myself. abby… you do work a lot. maybe you could wear this for work? it could double as a fall jacket and a top in the winter? you could wear it over a dress… AND with jeans. yep it was the combo thing that did it. i grabbed my size and headed up to the checkout…. oh and i grabbed 4 plates with sheep faces on them. you know?

once i got home i started strategizing on how to wear this bad boy. since it was a work day i couldn’t wear jeans to the office. but i was also heading out to everlasting blooms after to pick up items for my fall planters so i had to wear something a little durable. i thought i would play with some pattern mixing. i love the idea of polka dots (tiny) and  a large floral print. i went with a skinny pant too because the poncho has so much fabric that i didn’t want to detract from that. a high boot would have also cut me (and my short legs) off too much at the the knee so i went with my favorite style of shortie boot. the mtng becca boot. i bought these last year in a gray black and i wore them all winter long. they are SO comfortable and incredible versatile. my favorite boutique in holland (and gr) has them in a dark black as well as these suede gray… i bought them both. but i’m promising you, they are the only short boot you will ever need! what do you think? have you started your fall wardrobe shopping yet? anything you HAD to have?!
